Together at Sixty

 I can feel the warmth of the breeze from the North !

As it's echoes the beautiful sounds of the Kakaki down to the south !

Where the Udu and Sekéré  are resonating on a low key.

As Jubilation roars across the Niger area.

A new nation is born called Nigeria.


Sitting at the bank of River Niger and Benue 

I could hear silence from the confluence.

I took a deep breathe as I navigate through the length and breadth of the rivers.

As it's flows downward to form the Delta .


The journey to nationhood has been tough.

In the midst of chaos we had a reason to laugh.

That's d zeal to carry-on

In our hands is the crayon.

To paint a nation we can live on !


Looking back to our past, we had scars.

Looking up to the sky, it's brightens like a star.

A sign to keep our head high and forge ahead !


Together at sixty

Forever in unity 

Enjoying our similarities

Celebrating our differences

With sacrifice and determination !

A cause for celebration.


Together at Sixty !

Together we hold the vision !

Together we trust the process !

Bodija Abbatoir Saga, the untold story behind the unrest.

I'm Bashir Olanrewaju, Perm. Sec., Oyo State Ministry of Information. Ordinarily, I hardly comment on the social media in view of loads of deliberate/ignorant  misinformation peddled as eye witness/expert opinions. I read all the comments, so far, on this platform on the unfortunate Bodija market violent brigandage by some butchers and I felt I should share some relevant facts. 1. Govt is not relocating Butchers, but only relocating abattoir operations and slaughter services to the state of the Art facility at Akinyele. Sale of meat which is the primary butcher services remains in the existing markets. Only that slaughtering will no longer get take place within the markets for health and  quality assurance purposes. 2. This was the agreement  with the Butchers Union since 2014.
