Oluwo of Iwo still remains an Oba
His Royal Highness, Oba AbdulRasheed Akanbi (Telu1) was quoted out of context, he remains An Oba
His Royal Majesty Oba AbdulRasheed Akanbi (Telu 1) was quoted out of context, Kabiyesi never said he abandoned been addressed as an Oba rather, Kabiyesi said ..."the word Emir is coined from an Arabic word "Amir" which means leader, king or ruler". Being an Oba who combines both spiritual and traditional leadership consequent upon which he wears crown at times and turban another time. One can call him Oba or Emir.
He never mentioned abandoning Oba for Emir as crown for turban, as against what Blue journalism Reported.
Has any of those crying foul ever attended the installation of any Oluwo?
Usage of turban by Iwo Obas has commenced since the reign of the 5th OLUWO, Oba Ibirinade Adekanbi Abioye 1673AD to 1733AD. It has since then become the custom and tradition of Iwo that an Oba will be turbaned at installation and the Ewe Akoko will be fixed therein. Oba will later be using both crown and the turban at his will after coronation.
Which other Oba is so installed in Yorubaland?
